Casuarina House 1 is a casual contemporary courtyard beach house situated on a narrow block within a beach side community. A straightforward approach to (or limited pallet of) finishes & materials was used to give a relaxed feel to the house & achieve a quality crafted finish to the house within a limited budget. A central courtyard provides privacy & northern sunlight to the lower level bedrooms & living area - the living area opens to both central courtyard & front yard with coastal heath bush aspect, a pavilion feel & good cross ventilation is achieved with the dual aspect.
A timber box above the living area contains the main bedroom. Materials include, burnished concrete floor, western red cedar cladding internal & external, corten cladding, plywood silver ash joinery.
